Top to Bottom: David Fincher
Article by
Terry Plucknett
Posted - 10/4/10
This weekend
marks the release of the 7th
David Fincher film (not counting
Alien3
because, honestly, who
does?) in
The Social Network.
Looking back on Fincher’s
career, there are some definite patterns.
First, there was the
psychological thriller phase of his first three films (Se7en,
The Game,
and Fight Club).
Second came the traditional
thriller phase, subtle but noticeable difference, with his
next two films (Panic
Room and
Zodiac).
Now we are in the middle of his
dramatic phase with
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
and now The Social Network.
With the American version of
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
already confirmed as his next film, we will wait and see
which direction his career will go next.
However, I want to look back on
Fincher’s career so far and rank his films top to bottom,
best to worst.
Although in Fincher’s case,
there is not a worst, just a little less than best (and with
what I have heard so far about
The Social Network,
it will continue this pattern).
Any way you want to look at it,
here is the countdown of Fincher’s best.
