Top 10 Big Screen Performances by Small Screen

Laura San Giacomo
Sex, Lies, and Videotape (1989)
To most people,
Laura San Giacomo is still Maya from
Just Shoot Me!,
but her performance in
Sex, Lies, and Videotape
is one that I will never get out of my head. The film got
under my skin, and most of that feeling was because of her
character. San Giacomo gave one of the sexiest, richest
performances I have ever seen, and she wore her emotions on
her deeply expressive face seemingly effortlessly. She is a
fantastic actress that does not work near enough. Since, she
has kicked around some movies and a couple series including
Saving Grace,
but she has not had an impact like she did back in ’89 with
this phenomenal indie hit. Maybe she should hook up with
Soderbergh again to give her a character worthy of her
talent.
